With the New Year well underway, we are setting our sights on the Fabric Trends predicted to sweep their way into our homes throughout 2019. In a time where we have endless visual inspiration at our fingertips, it has never been easier to make changes here and there to our home interiors. Fabric furnishings are the easiest to refresh and a room can feel entirely revitalised by merely updating a lampshade with a new fabric colour or material.

In 2019, the increased focus on creating sensory and emotional responses through design continues; with vibrant patterns and bold colours at the forefront. Linwood Fabric have an eclectic range of floral and dynamic patterns, such as Jungle Jive from their Tango Collection. An expansion on the ever-popular tropical theme; the Tango Collection has been inspired by the movement and life of the illustrious Argentinian dance with rich, vibrant colours.

At the Light Shade Studio, our bespoke service offers the possibility to create a truly unique lampshade, outside of our standard collections. We can make any of our shades using a fabric of your choice; it couldn’t be easier. Ideas may take shape from pieces which already exist on our website, but the principles of design can be tailored to suit your specific requirements. Featured below is our Medium 40cm Drum shade in Linwood’s Jungle Jive, partnered with the David Hunt Lighting Odyssey table lamp.

The trend for rich, dark tones will be further developed in 2019, with the use of black fabrics in interiors on the rise.

Our black silk dupion is a long-standing feature in our fabric library, evoking an indulgent, luxurious experience. Shown below is our Medium 35cm Drum shade in Black silk dupion, with a gold metallic lining, adding an intense depth to the David Hunt Lighting Pura table lamp.

The ongoing trend for vibrant colour combinations continues in the interiors industry, with the use of two-tone colourways becoming increasingly popular in 2019. Our lampshades are individually handcrafted making it simple to specify fabric colours; energising your interior with a vivid combination of bright tones. Featured below is the Polo pendant in Citron and Ivory Silk.

Finally, a visual partnership between fabric and fringing will be a popular choice for interiors in 2019. Echoing a strong influence from the iconic era of 1920’s New York, our Gatsby fringed pendant shade is suited to a range of interiors. The handmade nature of this design demonstrates the finest craftsmanship by combining luxurious fabric with opulent fringing. Encompassing complete versatility, the Gatsby can be ordered in any of the colours featured in our fabric library. Shown here in Cloud Satin with a Warm Grey fringe and Swan satin with an Ivory fringe.

We love to see our designs in use, so why not get social by following us on InstagramFacebookTwitter and Pinterest to keep up to date with all things The Light Shade Studio.
